Clover Park Technical College runs one of the largest welding programs in the region, with over 120 students across four sections. With roughly 30 students per class and only two instructors per section, individual feedback time is limited.
Students practice welds throughout the day, but detailed feedback on technique, defect identification, and scoring often has to wait until an instructor is available. Between managing safety, equipment, and multiple skill levels in a single class, there simply aren't enough hours for one-on-one review of every weld.
Martha Hale, Welding Program Director, piloted DimeVision with 24 students over a 60-day period during Winter Quarter 2026. Students downloaded the app, joined using a class code, and began photographing their welds for instant AI analysis.
DimeVision's scoring was calibrated to Martha's own rubric, covering three core areas: Weld Soundness, Visual Appearance, and Dimensional Accuracy. This meant the AI feedback matched what Martha herself would be grading on, giving students consistent benchmarks between instructor reviews.
At least five students used DimeVision to self-assess their vertical flux core welds and reached certification readiness during the pilot period.
Martha integrated DimeVision directly into her teaching workflow. When she wasn't available for one-on-one review, she directed students to scan their welds with the app first.
"If a teacher is not available, I'll say, go to your DimeVision app. What does it say?"
— Martha Hale, Welding Program Director
24 students enrolled in the pilot, a strong adoption rate for a new tool introduced mid-program. DimeVision became part of the daily classroom workflow.
Following the successful pilot, Martha has recommended DimeVision for institutional adoption across the Clover Park Technical College welding program. The next step is finalizing an annual program license with the Dean of Trades to expand access to all 120+ students across four sections.
"I have at least five welders that learned vertical flux core from this app and are ready for certification. When a teacher isn't available, I tell my students, go to your DimeVision app. What does it say? It's freed up time in instruction."Schedule a Demo for Your School
